BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POPULAR calypsonian and ardent supporter of the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Cecil ‘Rock-A-Fella’ Rock, on Friday afternoon (Jul. 12) during the Party’s ‘Full Confidence’ Rally on Bank Street, gave a sample of a new song he composed.

Rock has recycled the chorus content of one of his past popular songs called ‘Pampalam’; a politically-crafted lyrical pun pertaining to St. Kitts’ main opposition party, the People’s Action Movement (PAM).

“Well Comrades, this is long overdue but ah going give you a lil feeling until de real ting come. You remember de time ah sing Pampalam...ah lotta dem criticise me. But a going give you a warm up now just letting you (know) how much dey love dey country.”

Rock, who sang without music accompaniment, started off with: “All in a sudden dey love dey country and dey love it so strong. Dey say de island need great help so dey sacrificing demself, but dey ain fooling me...all a dem just afta Dougie.”

He continued: “Some ah dem should be ashame ah deyself, for 18 years dey pon de same flight ...dey bawl out and jump out without dey parachute and when dey jump out in PAM yard dey bawl out ‘Oh God’, but ah tell you all  ah dem was nuttin but Pampalam.”

In other parts of the song, Rock praised the works of the Labour Party, which created much laughter amongst the hundreds of supporters whose actions seemed to have been in support of his lyrics.

“I made to understand dat dey were following a white man and he mislead dem and dey cannot see, but look at our beautiful Labour Party, we coming back just now wid modern histry.

“Some ah dem again should realise when dey were going to school, we pay de bill (when dey) come back from college had no work at all an de same Dr. Douglas dey blaming help dem all. Ah tell you, all ah dem was nuttin but Pampalam.”
