Rotaract Club closes 29th year raising over $5,000 for various causes

    ROAD TOWN, Tortola, BVI, July 13 2013 – On Sunday June 30, the Rotaract Club of Tortola ended the 29th Rotaract year with a special dinner at Quito’s Gazebo, Cane Garden Bay, where the newly elected president and board members were installed as well as three additional members.

     

    Immediate Past President, Jehree Clark said in her remarks, “The year has been very fulfilling year under the theme “Be passionate about what you do today for a brighter tomorrow.” I was happy to see you serving from your hearts and laying foundations for both yourselves and the youth of this country, instilling peace while doing so…”

     

    Among several initiatives and contributions she mentioned, “Rotaractors have managed to donate Spanish/English Dictionaries to two Primary Schools, a Volleyball net, Volleyballs, printing paper and dry board markers to the Elmore Stoutt High School… Our Stars for a Cause Fundraiser raised over $5,000 for 5 worthy Causes…” She closed her remarks, gesturing to, now, President, Antonio Maynard, “Incoming President Antonio, this club makes 30 years old in June, make it big!”

     

    The then Incoming President of the Rotary Club of Road Town, Charles Crane, said that he felt safe knowing “the future of Rotary and of Tortola was in the hands of these young people.” He said, “I am so happy to see how much they have grown and thrived... They are full of life and positive energy and it is my hope that they continue to serve enthusiastically.”

     

    The Rotaract Club of Tortola began in 1984. The club currently has 36 members that are considered, “young professionals” ages 18 to 30 years old. Rotaract is regarded as a part of the Rotary family. The club’s motto is “Fellowship through service.”
