BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIS week, the Grand Masters Band is scheduled to perform in three different Caribbean islands as part of their annual Carnival festivity.
Earlier this afternoon (July 23), the band departed the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis via sea vessel transport to the island of Saba, where it will be a part of the annual Carnival festivity there.
Additionally, the band, which is scheduled to return tomorrow (July 24), will be leaving for St. Eustatius on Friday (July 26) thence to Anguilla on the following day.
One of the lead vocalists, Rucas Pemberton, informed SKNVibes that the band has been travelling to the three islands for many years and its performances would all be onstage shows.
“Grand Masters Band will be travelling to these three islands because of our high demands in all,” he enthusiastically indicated.
Asked what the public can expect from the band on the three islands, Pemberton replied: “The public can expect nothing less than great performance, as we have been practicing day in and day out for not only these three outside gigs but for our local gigs as well. Our level of music and performance has been raised, so we are pretty sure that the public will be more than satisfied with what we have to offer.”
According to Pemberton, the response from the public in the three islands has always been great and exciting.
“The people in Saba, Statia and Anguilla love us to the max because of our great albums. We have been producing over the years and because of our great performances we put on every time. So I would say the response is always a great and exciting one.”
The Grand Masters Band recently performed on the first night of the 17th annual St. Kitts Music Festival (June 27 to 29) at the Warner Park Cricket Grounds.
The band had the crowd bouncing as they dished out songs such as 'Bounce A Gal', 'Hollywood' and 'None Ah Dem'. The band treated their fans to a near one hour performance.
While performing their hit tune 'From De Jungle', fans started to behave like ‘party animals’.
SKNVibes gathered that out of the 17 years of the annual extravaganza, Grand Masters Band has performed eight times, including 2012.
