Dr. Drew for Constituency Eight!

Dr. Terrance Drew, Constituency Representative for St. Christopher Eight.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DR. TERRANCE DREW – resident of Constituency Number Eight – has been selected as the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) candidate for that area for the upcoming General Elections.

Suspicions were confirmed sometime ago after former representative of the area Cedric R. Liburd indicated on the political platform that he had withdrawn his name from the race, leaving Dr. Drew – an internal medicine specialist - and an unnamed female.

When asked about the matter at his most-recent monthly press conference, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas avoided directly addressing it, but indicated that the candidates for both Constituency Eight and Constituency Three have been selected but he will not make the announcement until the time is right.

SKNVibes understands that Drew is to be formally introduced to the constituents of St. Christopher Eight early next week at a special meeting to be held in the St. Peter’s area.

Liburd – in a statement issued by the St. Kitts-Nevis Information Service – declared his support for Drew, informing that he had hand-picked him  a decade ago to be his successor.

“I am pleased and proud to be able to hand over the responsibility for this great constituency to a smart, capable, ambitious and committed young professional, whom I identified as my possible successor more than ten years ago. I am confident that Dr. Drew is ready to serve the good people of Constituency Number Eight following the next General Elections.

“…I therefore take this opportunity to pledge my full support to our new candidate and I wish him good luck and good results in a successful career of public service!”

Drew’s candidacy has been met with mixed reactions with some opining that he now runs the risk of ruining his career by entering the political arena at such an early age and by politically aligning himself as he has.

On the other hand, persons in some quarters have declared that he is the perfect choice for moving St. Christopher Eight, the SKNLP and the country forward.

The public still awaits official word on who the representative for St. Christopher Three is; Attorney General Jason Hamilton, Konris ‘King Konris’ Maynard or Osbert France.
