Historic Lenox Road Baptist Church to Host Jamaica Indy Thanksgiving Service

    NEW YORK, NY -- The Lenox Road Baptist Church at 1356 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, will host this year’s Thanksgiving worship service, commemorating Jamaica’s 51st Anniversary of Independence.

     

    Consul General of Jamaica to New York, Hon. Herman G. LaMont, made the announcement at a meeting with members of the media at the offices of the Consulate General in Manhattan, on Tuesday, July 9.
     
    The Reverend Dr. Kirkpatrick Cohall, senior pastor at the church, will deliver the sermon, and according to CG LaMont, the invitation is being extended to all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica to come and share in what he says will be a most inspiring experience.
     
    “This year, we are staying ‘home’ and keeping things in the Diaspora. All the celebrants will be from the Diaspora, this time and we invite everyone to come.”
     
    The order of service was not available at the meeting but persons wishing to attend, are being asked to be seated by or before 3:45 pm, for a 4:00 pm start.
     
    The Independence Anniversary Church Service will climax a week of spiritual outpouring for by Jamaicans, for Jamaica, as three days prior, on Thursday, August 1 – Emancipation Day – Jamaicans in the global village, will take time out to fast and offer prayers for the spiritual renewal and transformation of the nation.
     
    The Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI), a New York-based organization, in conjunction with Jamaica’s Overseas Missions and clergy in those jurisdictions, will join forces in staging the ninth annual Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting.
     
    “It is my hope that both events will help to bring our nationals closer to the challenges facing our brothers and sisters at home at this time”, offered CG LaMont.
