BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO mounted a strong fight against Barbados yesterday (Jul. 27) at Warner Park after failing with the bat on day one of round three of the Regional Under-19 tournament.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Trinidad and Tobago wilted to 158 all out in their first innings with Vikash Mohan being their main contributor with 32 runs.

Mohan then returned with the ball and collected three vital Bajan wickets to end the day with figures of 3-23 to leave Barbados reeling at 58/6, still trailing by 100 runs.

In the game at Conaree, Guyanese batsman Akashay Homraj tore the Windwards bowlers apart after stroking an even hundred from 103 balls in a late innings cameo to put Guyana in a strong position heading into day two.

Significant contributions also came from Tagenarine Chanderpaul who blasted 66 and Brian Sattur who made 46.

Guyana closed the day in a strong position on 334/9.

At the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex in Molineux, Tristan Coleman of Jamaica held his team’s batting together with a score of 98.

Coleman made a fast 98 from 106 balls, though he was made to work to score spending approximately 20 minutes on 97 before he became frustrated and lost his wicket one run later.

Leroy Lug hit 51 from 64 balls while Brandon King hit an even 50.

No other batsman passed 20 on the day.

Shavon Moore and Shaquille Martina finished with two wickets each as Jamaica closed the day on 263/7.
