UNITY Townhall meetings on proposed boundary changes continues in Cayon

By: Public Relations Office of PAM, Press Release

Basseterre, St.Kitts (Basseterre St.Kitts)  --  The People’s Action Movement organized UNITY Townhall Meeting series on the proposed boundary changes will move to the Green Valley this Monday July 29th at the Cayon Community Center.

Monday’s meeting will be the third in the series of meetings which was launched on Monday 22nd July, at the Old Girls School in Basseterre, where hundreds gathered to get an insight and learn more about the proposed changes or as they are now being described the ‘Dougiemandering” of our electoral boundaries.

Officials of both the People’s Action Movement and the People’s Labour Party are expected to make presentations at the Cayon meeting. PAM Leader Hon. Shawn K. Richards gave a memorable and rousing presentation at the opening meeting as well as the meeting in his constituency of St.Christopher 5 on Wednesday. Dr. Timothy Harris also gave a rousing and inspiring presentation at the opening meeting on
Monday evening in Basseterre. PLP Chairman Douglas Wattley presented in Sandy Point on behalf of his party.  Mr. Patrick Williams, who has been described as an expert demographer and one well schooled on issues related to the re-aligning of electoral districts has been the featured presenter at all meetings as his expert opinion is critical in exposing the “dougiemandering” that is being pursued by the government.

Deputy Leader of PAM, Hon. Eugene Hamilton, who is also the Member of Parliament for St.Christopher 8 is expected to make a presentation on Monday as his constituency will be significantly impacted by the proposed changes.

Three of the 5 main parties in the federation namely the PAM, PLP AND CCM  have all declared and argued that the proposed changes are based on bias and are designed to place the members of the Elected Majority and the parties they represent at a  disadvantage ahead of the general elections expected later this year.

Monday’s town hall meeting will be carried live on radio on Sugar City FM and WINN FM, starting at 7:30 pm.
