BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A poor batting display by Leeward Islands has put Jamaica in a strong position in the Regional Under-19 Tournament at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex in Molineux.
Resuming on their overnight total on 263/7 the Jamaicans added an additional 41 runs before declaring on 304/9.
Kittitian Jeremiah Louis was the best of the lot amongst Leeward Islands bowlers, taking three wickets for 55 runs, while Shavon Moore and Shaquille Martina both had two wickets each.
Louis returned to become the Leeward Islands talisman at the stroking of a laboured 48 from 145 deliveries in an effort to try and salvage his team, which who lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to reach 142 all out and trailing by 162 runs.
Ramaal Lewis and Roshane Manning took three wickets each for the Jamaicans.
Leeward Islands were then asked to follow-on, and in their second innings closed the day on 18 without loss.
In the encounter at Warner Park Trinidad and Tobago claimed first innings points by the slimmest of margins against Barbados.
Starting the day on 58/6, an even fifty from captain Jameel Stuart lifted Barbados to 149 all out, trailing T&T by just nine runs.
The pick of the T&T bowlers was Bryan Charles with four wickets for 33 runs.
Trinidad and Tobago in their second innings at the crease are currently 123/2 with Jeremy Solonzano on 52 and Camillo Carimbocas on 40.
The two men have put on 59 runs for the third wicket so far.
And at Conaree, Guyana declared overnight on 334/9 and went on to take first innings points against the Windward Islands. Shawn Pereira led Guyana's domination with five wickets for 43 runs as Windward Islands were bowled out for 235.
Significant contributions came from Keone George who top scored with 71 and Tonius Simon who made 44.
The only other meaningful scores came from Roland Cato with 36 and Gian Benjamin 39.
Guyana closed the day, in their second innings, on 42/3, having an overall lead of 141 runs. Tagenarine Chanderpaul is not out on 28.
