BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (February 29, 2004):  Local patrons of craft markets 'Amina' and 'All Kind a Tings' are about to experience the first lottery draw for purchases made there.

An officer of the Tourism Authority told SKNIS that the first draw would occur on Tuesday, March 2. Various prizes have been arranged for the winners, this time compliments of LIAT and the Ocean Terrace Inn. Over the past months, local patrons who made purchases at the craft markets have been given tickets. Ticket stubs are handed over to the Tourism Authority and entered into the Vendors Lottery.

The officer indicated that the lottery is intended to help attract more local patrons to the craft markets, indicating that the markets have a wide range of products, not only appealing to visitors, but also to residents as well. The tourism officer expressed appreciation to LIAT and Ocean Terrace Inn for their full support to the programme, which, she said, is beneficial to business in the long run.

The business community is invited to “get on board” as tourism partners in a programme that benefits them by having vendors located in attractive market locals in Basseterre, the officer stated.
