The Ministry of Health and Social Development says work on the new Peebles Hospital project has been temporarily suspended pending the resolution of some matters.

Acting Permanent Secretary Ms. Petrona Smith confirmed that work on the hospital project has not ceased, but construction operations were suspended on December 1st while the Government and the contractor Mirsand-Carimex-Quantum work through some issues.

“While we are not at liberty to divulge the details at this stage, I can assure you that both parties are working assiduously to resolve the issues to ensure that work on the hospital resumes within the shortest possible timeframe”, Ms. Smith said.
The Ministry will provide the public with an update once discussions are concluded.

The hospital project remains one of Government’s priority projects to ensure that the people of this Territory have access to quality healthcare.
