BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ELEVEN employees of the Alpha and Omega Security Solutions (AOSS) have successfully completed the company’s first Money Intensive Unit Training Course for 2013.
At a simple but significant closing ceremony held recently at the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Conference Hall, three Nevisians and eight Kittitians were presented with certificates for having successfully completed the training course.
The training course, which commenced on June 15 and concluded 10 days after, was the first in a series for 2013.
The participants were subjected to a series theoretical and physical training in an effort to prepare them to function efficiently and effectively whilst performing security duties.
In his presentation as guest speaker, Chartered Accountant Gary Cooper urged the participants to consider themselves stakeholders in the business and not just employees or security officers.
Brief remarks were also given by Shawn Wigley the Managing Director of AOSS, who is a former Warrant Officer Class Two and Military Instructor of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force.
Giving the Course Overview was Senior Manager of AOSS and Retired Acting Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles.
Charles said the participants were trained in Mental Awareness, Bodyguard and Introduction to Close Protection Operations, Report Writing, Types of Searches and how to conduct them, Scanning and Searching Persons, and Evidence and Crime Scene Protection.
He advised the new security officers to work closely with the police so as to provide assistance.
"Now that you have been trained and certified a Private Security Officer, I would admonish you to work closely with the police for the good of society. The police need your assistance and I have no doubt whatsoever that your helping hand would be greatly appreciated, not only by the police but the country at large in bringing criminals to justice."
Four of the new security officers were specially awarded for their outstanding performances during their training:
Frank Ehi was awarded for Best Physical Student, Winston Williams for Best Inspection, Ira Jeffers for Best Academic Student, and Kendal Hamilton received an award for being the Best Overall Student.
The AOSS intends to continue training their officers throughout the year.
