The Bahamas & Barbados win Bank of the Year for FirstCaribbean

Bridgetown, Barbados – FirstCaribbean International Bank’s operating companies in Barbados and The Bahamas have captured the prestigious Bank of the Year Award for 2008 from the acclaimed magazine, The Banker. 

The Bank of the Year 2008 Awards are the culmination of another year of solid performance by FirstCaribbean.  The award is the third straight win for The Bahamas. The Bahamas was singled out by the Banker for its maintenance of strong and prudent balance sheet management within the current turbulent global financial context. 

In Barbados FirstCaribbean has invested heavily in transforming the customer experience by developing innovative customer solutions, including an automated end-to-end international payments system, and fully electronic self-service bill payments platform.

Chief Executive Officer, John D. Since its inception, FirstCaribbean has received many awards from The Banker.  It was named Bank of the Year for its operations in Jamaica, The Cayman Islands and The Bahamas last year. In 2006, the bank’s Jamaica and Bahamas businesses received similar awards, while its Barbados business was named Bank of the Year in that market in 2004.
