BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE teams are still in contention for two spots in the Finals of the SKNFA Digicel Premier Division Playoffs following a 1-all draw last night (Aug. 11) between Conaree FC and Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
Following a 1-all draw in their first game against St. Paul’s, Garden Hotspurs were seeking their first victory of the Playoffs and came out early putting Conaree under heavy pressure as they pushed for an early opener.
They however got a setback when Kadeem Lewis of Conaree found an opening, sped away from Spurs’ defenders and skilfully outfoxed the goalkeeper to score his third goal of the Playoffs.
Spurs however continued to threaten their opponents’ goal, but to no avail, and entered the halftime break facing still facing a deficit.
At the start of the second half, a relentless Conaree in search of goal number two bombarded Spurs’ goal but they could not have gotten past Spurs’ goalkeeper, who executed some wonderful saves.
As time was running out in the game and Conaree seemingly running away with a win, Spurs’ Rovan Wigley sped away on the right wing in the 86th minute and thumped the ball to the centre, where he found Tahir Hanley who pulled of a sublime finish to put the teams’ level.
Red cards were given to Kadeem Lewis of Conaree and Shawn Williams of Spurs in the 90th minute for violent conduct.
Officials were James Matthew, Alexis Joseph, O'Brien Clarke and Graeme Browne. Match Commissioner was Derrick Fyfield and Troy Mills was the Referees Assessor.
