BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE sightings might not be as often as in other countries but, for some, one snake sighting is one too many!
And recently, yet another snake has been spotted and captured in St. Kitts.
SKNVibes has received information which suggests that sometime after 8:00 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 12) one was discovered in the vicinity of the Public Works Department Mechanic Shop on Wellington Road.
It is understood that a female was walking along the road when she saw the creature in the drain and made an inquiry about what it was. Upon viewing the reptile, another individual confirmed that it was a snake. It is also suggested that the slithering creature was dead when discovered.
This publication understands that the near two-foot-long specimen was taken to the Agriculture Department, where the relevant and necessary investigations and tests are expected to be done.
This most recent find has led to the proliferation of questions concerning these creatures’ origin, breeding pattern, population, whether they are venomous or not and the potency of their venom.
In less than a year, there have been at least three other sightings of snakes; one in Frigate Bay, one at De Village and another on sister isle Nevis.
