BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man who hails from the Newtown area has decided to reach out to youths by forming a talent group where they can channel their energies.

Dion Brown, 18, said that he has taken up this initiative to reach out to the youths because of the increase in criminal activities.

Brown is the founder and president of Spot Light Inc., a group whose objectives are to promote and teach social behavior among the youths and to create a positive image.

The group was established on September 13, 2008 but was officially launched on Friday, December 5 at the Independence Square.

Spot Light Inc. focuses on drama, dance and songs bearing positive messages that are normally organised by members of the group.

“I often hear people say that the government is not doing anything, so we decided to take it upon ourselves to try and make a difference in at least one life,” he said. “We are youths helping other youths.”

The other members of the group are Kharim Saddler, Clyota Richards, Vantalyn Webbe, Destin Liburd and Veshawn Bolus.

The group meets every Friday at the Independence square from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and membership is open anyone between the ages of 12 and 21. ~~Adz:Right~~
