Flemming claims Harris is Unity Leader

    Says PAM people confused

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DEPUTY LEADER of the National Integrity Party (NIP), Roy Flemming charges that the leadership of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) is “confused” and the party’s request for its supporters to remove one “Labour leader” to install another is ludicrous.

While speaking in an interview with SKNVibes, the former Constituency Number Two candidate for the PAM said his party has reliable information which suggests that the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris is the Leader of the Unity Movement. It is in this framework that he expressed the farcical nature of the strategy.

“We in the National Integrity Party have been reliably informed that Dr. Timothy Harris has been selected to lead the Unity Movement and that if members of the so-called Unity Movement including Dr. Harris himself are elected, then Dr. Harris would become the next Prime Minister of this country.

“I can say that persons asking for the removal of the current Labour Prime Minister, who is Dr. Denzil Douglas, and asking the electorate of this country to replace the current Labour Leader with another Labour Leader, who is the Hon. Timothy Harris, is no change at all. Those persons are totally confused! The People’s Action Movement is asking its supporters in Constituency Number Three and Constituency Number Seven to support a Labour Candidate for those two seats.”

Flemming accused the PAM of “practicing politics of deception”.

“Now, you would know that for the past 18 years in opposition, the People’s Action Movement has been saying to its supporters that the Hon. Timothy Harris and the Hon. Sam Condor have been victimising them. They have been saying that those two former ministers have not been providing adequate representation and they were asking those supporters in the last two elections, of which I was a part (2004 and 2010), to get rid of those two candidates and install in their places representatives and candidates of the People’s Action Movement. So I find that it is hypocritical for the People’s Action Movement to now ask its supporters to support these two candidates.

“What the PAM party has done in effect, is that they have abandoned their values and principles and are now attempting to achieve power at the expense of those principles and those values which they once held on to respective to these two candidates in those two constituencies.”

Flemming confidently expressed that through the NIP, the people of the Federation have an opportunity to elect honest and anti-corruption leaders.

“We believe that the citizens of this country who are asking for change deserve better than that…The issue of leadership is one which is very important to the citizens of this country, and we in the National Integrity Party are giving the electorate a chance to elect honest representatives. We are giving them a chance to elect representatives who believe in doing what is right and, ultimately, representatives who would stand up against corruption at all cost.”
