BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANTOINE ADAMS of St. Kitts and Nevis automatically qualified for the Semi Finals of the 200 metres race at the 2013 World Championships following a third-place finish in Heat Four this morning (Aug. 16).
Running in Lane Seven, Adams sprung out of his blocks and led for the first 70 metres of the race before being surpassed by Alonso Edward of Panama and Nickel Ashmeade of Jamaica.
Adams qualified with a time of 20.56.
Also representing St. Kitts and Nevis in the 200m heats was Lestrod Roland who failed to qualify for the semi-finals, finishing sixth in Heat Three in a time of 21.37 seconds.
The 200 meter Semi Finals will be contested today at 11:40a.m. in Moscow. Adams is expected to compete in Heat Two of the Semi Finals which will feature defending champion in that event Usain Bolt.

Hua Wilfried Koffi of the IVORY COAST was to have been the eighth competitor but did not start (DNS).
