BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man, who allegedly wounded another with a machete and was being sought by the police, turned himself in yesterday afternoon (Aug. 15) at the Basseterre Police Station but some hours later learnt that his home was destroyed by fire.
According to information reaching SKNVibes, an altercation took place yesterday morning between two young men which resulted in one of them wounding the other with a machete.
The wounded man was taken to the JNF General Hospital, where he is currently warded, and the matter was reported to the police who went in search of the alleged perpetrator.
Following the report, this media house learnt that the alleged perpetrator was told that the police were searching for him and was advised to turn himself in.
This he did but, some hours later, the shack in which he resided at Conaree was burnt to the ground and arson is suspected.
Some residents in the immediate area are of the view that the burning of the shack was deliberately done and was “an act of vengeance by an individual or individuals affiliated with the wounded man”.
On arrival at the scene this morning, SKNVibes had observed the handcuffed alleged perpetrator of the wounding incident with members of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Crime Scene Unit combing through the debris for clues.
At press time, neither the name of the wounded man nor that of the perpetrator was known to this media house.
