In life, opportunities lost are never regained. Eavin Parry understands this maxim very well.
Parry, who lives in Newton Ground, recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability with a concentration in Natural Resource Management from the University of South Australia (UniSA) in August of this year.
Parry was awarded a scholarship from the Australian government under the AusAID programme, which provided him with an opportunity of a lifetime and an experience like no other.
“Studying in Australia has truly been a thrilling learning and life-changing experience for me,” Parry said.
“As an AusAID scholar, I was provided with a world-class education experience, which I found to be both rich and rewarding. The University of South Australia is one of Australia's most prestigious universities and is renowned internationally for excellence in education and research.
“In addition to providing me with exposure to a diversity of cultures, in particularly, the Australian way of life, studying in Australia taught me a lot about myself and challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. The experience was therefore helpful in refining my interpersonal skills, enhancing my management and technical abilities and significantly contributing to my overall professional development.
As testimony to his academic and personal excellence at the UniSA, Eavin was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2013, during his tenure at UniSA, demonstrating that he has performed within the top 15 percent of his peers.
As an academic, Parry gives his best shot at whatever he does. Not only is he committed and bright, but perhaps one of his most admirable qualities is his humility. He is an extremely unassuming young man.
Prior to studying in Australia, Parry graduated from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Management (Valuation).
During his tenure at UWI, Eavin held several prominent positions in student organizations, including Vice- President of the Leeward Island Student Association in Trinidad and Tobago (LISATT) and Vice President of the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, St. Augustine Chapter. Upon completion of his studies at the Institution, Eavin was presented with a number of awards including Best Student in the Land Management (Valuation) Program.
Parry understands that education gives one a brighter future filled with options and opportunities. To that end, he gives back to his community because of what he has received by making a contribution to young people’s education. He has taught Environmental Science at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.
His profound passion for youth and community development is exhibited in an Annual Parry’s Triple ‘A’ Award. This honour is awarded to the student of the graduating class of the Newton Ground Primary School who has demonstrated academic and athletic excellence while consistently demonstrating an exemplary level of conduct.
Mr. Parry is the Owner and Manager of Parry’s Professional Appraisal Services, an emerging real estate valuation surveying firm in St. Kitts-Nevis.
He holds membership in a number international and regional Professional Institutions such as the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO), Graduate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and Associate Member of the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE).
Parry is married to Theresa and has a one year old daughter, Hadassah.

“I am ready to translate the knowledge gained into real action and make a meaningful contribution to national development, whether this impact be achieved via private professional practice, involvement community building programs, or participation in policy formulation and implementation in the public sector; I am prepared to play a role in driving the sustainability agenda,” Parry said.
