BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts and Nevis Men’s 4x100 metres Relay Team will not defend their bronze medal finish in 2011 following their elimination earlier today (Aug. 18) in the Heats at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Russia.
Running out of lane seven in Heat Three, the Federation’s team was competitive for the majority of the race before a shaky final baton handover accounted for the them losing valuable ground on the other competitors.
The race was eventually won by Germany in a time of 38.13 seconds while second place went to Canada in a time of 38.29 seconds.
The team of Lestrod Roland, Jason Rogers, Antoine Adams and Alistair Clarke finished fifth in a time of 38.58 seconds.
A statement on the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletic Association’s (SKNAAA) Facebook page stated, “We salute you! Thanks for representing our Federation on the world stage.
“Clearly, you are amongst the best to have made it to thus far. You may have missed out on a spot in the finals this time but we look forward to your next time on the track. You are a young team with a great future.”
