BASSETERRE ST. KITTS (December 14, 2008) – DAVID FOX was named the Development Bank of Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Manager of the Year at the financial institution’s 3rd Annual Awards Banquet held at the Serendipity Restaurant in Fortlands, Basseterre on Saturday, December 13.

Fox, who outpointed two other nominees for the award, is the Bank’s Manager for Delinquency and Recoveries based in Basseterre but is currently the Acting Manager for the Nevis Branch in the absence of its regular manager, Alexa Pemberton, who is overseas on study leave.

The Manager of the Year category is new and was kept as a surprise. The list of awards, publicly advertised on the evening’s programme, had Employee of the Year as the top award, which went to Cleopatra Richards after warding off a stiff challenge from three other contenders.

Giving the feature address at the well-attended ceremony, Nevis-based member of the Board of Directors, Dr. Telbert Glasgow, thanked the staff for their dedication and hard work during the year as they served the bank’s customers. He said, “We are truly appreciative of your hard work and dedication in this institution.”

He implored the staff to continue to serve the customers more diligently, as this would enable the institution to get more customers and more business, leading it to grow to be one of the biggest financial institutions in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“Remember the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis is the bank that gives a helping hand,” commented Dr. Glasgow. “It is not easy to make a good balance between risk and return, but with your expertise I know that you can do the job so that we can obtain maximum returns.”

In his welcome remarks, the Bank’s General Manager, Lenworth Harris, told the gathering that the array of trophies and certificates on display was a clear indication of the trust that the bank had placed in its staff and its firm belief that without their hard work during the year the bank would not have achieved what it has.

While introducing Tiffany Hamilton-Richards, a bank employee who is also a contestant of the 2008/9 National Carnival Queen Pageant, and Derissa Fleming-Parris of the Nevis Branch who rendered the national anthem, Harris said, “I simply put it that it means then that the bank has talent…Talent not just in the professionalism that we display and the work that we perform but in the art form as well.”

The function was also attended by Rubie Taylor, the Deputy Chairperson of the Bank’s Board of Directors, and another Nevis-based member of the Board, Sonita Daniel. It was chaired by Shavon Douglas, Manager of the Bank’s Business Development Unit.

Also receiving awards were: Jefferson Merchant, ‘Most Outstanding Attendance and Punctuality’; Eldean Huggins, ‘Sporting Personality of the Year’; Coralee Benjamin, ‘Best Customer Service Delivery’; Jenese Saunders, ‘Most Improved Employee’; and Accounts & Finance Department (Marian Margaret Browne), ‘Most Outstanding Department’.

Other awardees were: Patrice Ward, ‘Most Outstanding Employee Lower Level’; Ercelle Bernier, ‘Most Outstanding Employee Ground Floor’; Jenese Saunders, ‘Most Outstanding Employee First Floor’; Candace Williams, ‘Most Outstanding Employee Second Floor’; Hyacinth Pemberton, ‘Most Outstanding Employee Nevis Branch’; and Daven Francis, ‘L’Esprit De DBSKN’.
