BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DEPUTY LEADER of the National Integrity Party (NIP) Roy Fleming is taking aim at the leadership of his former party – the People’s Action Movement (PAM) – and promises to release information that would prove its disloyalty to the party’s cause.
Fleming addressed issues of leadership while recently speaking with SKNVibes in an exclusive interview and explained that in a short period of time he would reveal information, which shows that on three separate occasions the “owners of PAM” either attempted to or placed the leadership of the party in the hands of external forces.
He stated that the most recent attempt is currently in progress.
“…Shortly, I will be coming to the public with information on the leadership issue as it stands now within the People’s Action Movement. And I would also indicate to the public where the leadership of PAM and the owners of PAM have given up the leadership or have attempted to give up the leadership position on three different occasions, and I will outline that to the public very shortly.
“As it stands now, they are attempting to or they have agreed to give the leadership position to the Hon. Timothy Harris…And I would bring to the public domain situations where the People’s Action Movement have attempted or have given away the leadership position on two other occasions before now. Once I reveal the information then the public would understand and they would be informed of what transpired some years ago.”
Speaking specifically to the current leadership and membership of the PAM, Fleming opined that the party is bereft of confidence and, as such, has practically agreed to instate a former Labour Senior Government Minister as the head of the country should the Unity Movement experience success at the polls.
“The People’s Action Movement, as it stands now, they have no confidence in producing a leader. So the present persons who are leading the party, the persons who are putting themselves up as candidates, they do not have the moral authority to present themselves as leaders to the electorate of the country and that is why they have no choice than to give it away to a former Labour Minister…I can guarantee you that when that decision comes to the public domain that you will confirm that Mr. Fleming was right when he said that.”
The former PAM candidate said there is no one within the membership of the party who is morally-fit to provide leadership for the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.
“The current membership of PAM cannot find among themselves anyone who is morally fit to be their leader as Prime Minister. It is a broad term, but more specifically, as it relates to condoning corruption and persons who do not condemn corruption and corrupt practices, in my opinion are not morally fit to lead the country.”
Fleming did not indicate when he would release the information but he promised it would be done in short order.
