BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued five days ago, turned himself in to police early Monday morning (Aug. 19).
According to a police press release, Keston ‘Blacka’ Joseph, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered himself to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) at around 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013.
Joseph was wanted by the Violent Crimes Unit of the RSCNPF as “a person of interest” in the shooting death of 19-year-old Devon Browne of Brighton.
At about 8:00 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 12), Browne was killed at Sarah Boury, Upper Cayon in what many residents of the area described to be a drive-by incident.
Shortly after the incident, a police release said that investigations were being conducted by the Violent Crimes Unit and the Joint Security Forces were actively searching for a person of interest, who happened to be Joseph.
Also on Monday (Aug. 19), Barbadian Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones performed an autopsy on Browne’s body and concluded that death was caused by gunshot injuries which resulted in haemorrhage and shock.
Browne’s death has taken to 20 the number of homicides committed in St. Kitts and Nevis for this year.
The Police Force has extended its gratitude to the parties that had assisted in making Joseph turn himself in.
“The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the general public, along with Media Houses, for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.”
