Woman finds tooth in corn curls

The tooth found in a bag of Nacho Cheese Fritos Twist
By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FROM time to time inanimate objects are found mixed with foods; be it a short strand of hair, a piece of paper or even a piece of plastic, having escaped the attention of the person manufacturing or cooking the meal.

There are also those times when persons are grossed out, because while eating they came across objects such as pins/needles, pieces of metals, insect parts and even rat droppings within the meal.

SKNVibes met one such person who gave a chilling detail of her recent experience with a tooth and a bag of Fritos Twist.

Doris Liburd said that on Sunday (Aug. 18) she was at a supermarket in Basseterre from where she purchased a bag of Nacho Cheese flavoured Fritos Twist.

She said that she opened the bag and started eating the contents while shopping with a friend.

"I bit and felt something hard and then I bit again and realised it was something unusual. I spit out the corn curls in my hand and moved away the pieces only to realise it was a tooth."

Liburd said her first reaction was shouting out, "Me arm...it's a teeth!"

She said she immediately went and spoke with the supermarket's manager to get the snack replaced but shortly after had a change of heart.

Liburd explained that someone advised her not to hand over the Fritos Twist to the manager because he might have made a financial claim from the manufacturers.

"I asked back for the Twist and he didn't want to give me, so I made a lot of noise and he eventually gave it back to me," she said.

SKNVibes had the opportunity to observe the object found in the corn chips, and it appeared to be the tooth of a small child.

When asked what she would say to persons who might be of the view that the incident was staged to get attention or to reap financial rewards, Liburd quickly replied saying, “I did not stage it...I would never do anything like that.”
