BASSETERRE St. Kitts, August 28th 2013 - Well it came down to this, game three for the top four teams in the St. Kitts Nevis Amateur Basketball Association DIGICEL Premier League 2013 Final Four. All the teams had one win each and it was the teams that had the fewest turnovers and scored the most baskets would indeed come out as victors. It was a ding-dong battle as the matches were keenly contested.
In Game One, the defending champions, S.L. Horsfords Ghetto Roots took on the likes of Hon Asim Martin Bird Rock Uprisers which pulled off the victory. Ghetto Roots took Game #2. The Bird Rock Uprisers did some soul searching as to what they did wrong in Game 2 and made the adjustments and from the start took the game to Ghetto Roots letting them know that they were not backing down. At the end of the first quarter, the game was tied 14 points each.
Ghetto Roots came back in the second quarter making some adjustment and ended the half leading 34 – 27. However, Bird Rock Uprisers, rose to the challenge, and while Ghetto Roots was struggling to find a rhythm, surged ahead and ended the third period 54 – 51.
There was no looking back now. The players felt the momentum shifting and began to move the ball with confidence and precision, scoring on almost every possession inside or outside. At the final whistle Bird Rock Uprisers up-staged the defending champions, by winning Game Three 79 – 65.
The second game was a replica of the first game for that evening. iRep Challengers Exodus seeded #1 took on #4 RAMS Hitters. Hitters won the Game #1 while Exodus took Game #2. However in Game #3 iRep Challengers Exodus was not about to bear out the true meaning of its name; dug deep and maintained their poised to eliminate RAMS Hitters. Scores by quarters: first quarter – 17 – 18 to Hitters, 2nd quarter 33 – 36 to Hitters, 3rd 52 – 48 to Exodus with the final score 71 – 64 to iRep Challengers Exodus.

The flight for the St. Kitts Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (SKNABA) Finals is booked as the teams cemented their places during this week.
In the “A” Division on Tuesday 27th August PJs from our sister island of Nevis defeated the NAGICO Legends to secure that first slot, while Cayon Lions edged out Blue Devils to grab the next slot. These two (2) teams Cayon Lions and PJs secured the opportunities of promotion to the Premier Division in the ensuing season of 2014. However, the quest for the title 2013- 2014 SKNABA “A” Division Champion would be decided by a Best of Three Games Series which commence on Saturday 31st August 2013 at 8:00 p.m.
However, the journey for that coveted title of 2013-2014 SKNABA Premier Division Champion commences on Sunday 1st September 2013 at 8:00 p.m. The defending champions S.L. Horsfords Ghetto Roots was not able to secure their berth in another final as the Hon. Asim Martin Bird Rock Uprisers secured the all important victory by winning Game #3. On the other hand, iRep Challengers Exodus defeated RAMS Hitters, to return to the finals.
The victories gained by the Bird Rock Uprisers and the Challengers Exodus indicated that there has been a change in the guards. RAMS Hitters and S.L. Horsfords Ghetto Roots had become household names for the Premier Division Championship Finals for many years, but for the 2013 -2014 there will be a new face for that coveted title. Both the Hon. Asim Martin Bird Rock Uprisers and the iRep Challengers Exodus will square off in a Best of Five Series and the better team will walk away with that renowned title.
