BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE identity of the young woman who apparently drowned at Cockleshell Beach was today (Sept. 3) revealed by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
According to a police press release, the woman, who died at Cockleshell Beach on Saturday (Aug. 31), was identified as 36-year-old "Myriam Bissainthe a Windsor student of Gainsville, Georgia, USA, but, was living at St. Christopher Club, Frigate Bay".
The release stated that Bissainthe was at the Beach celebrating her 36th birthday with two friends when she died.
"She was alone in the water close to the shore when sometime later a swimmer saw her floating and drifting, and rescued her. She was brought ashore and a local doctor who was present tried to revive her but, she was none responsive, and was pronounced dead about 6:00 pm." the release said.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted at a later date.
