Stranded Christ Festival artiste finally leaves St. Kitts

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - REPORTS reaching SKNVibes suggested that an artiste and her team were stranded at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts after performing at the Christ Festival.

This publication received an email which stated that the Jamaican Gospel singer, Judith Gayle, who had been in St. Kitts to perform at the inaugural Christ Festival along with "a team of seven people" had been told that they would not be able to leave the island on the day they were expecting to do so.

The email stated that on Sunday (Sept. 1), the artiste along with the team were to fly back to Jamaica and went to the airport only to be told that they were not on the American Airlines flight as they had expected.

The email also stated that Gayle and her team had their tickets and itinerary(s) but still could not leave on the flight.

It said that when they contacted the travel service they were told that they should "get to the promoter".

The email also spoke to the dissatisfaction and frustration of the artiste and team as they were very concerned about their jobs.

"Who in this country can help this promoter get us off this island...our jobs are at stake in Jamaica," Gayle said.

Another email informed that tickets were purchased and they were able to leave on the 2:45 AA flight yesterday (Sept 3). It also said that they "forgive and moved on" and that "we are just glad we are out of there".

SKNVibes contacted one of the promoters, Steven Fleming, on a number of occasions but was unsuccessful in gathering any details on the matter. When contacted the final time, Fleming said that he was unable to speak to the issue but noted that it had been resolved.

The much anticipated Christ Festival, which was scheduled to run from August 30 to September 1 was cut down to just one night of performances due to circumstances. The three popular artistes who were expected to perform were unable to do so.

The Christ Festival is however expected to be an annual event.
