BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO Kittitian sprinters Kim Collins and Jason Rogers fell short in their medal hunt at the IAAF World Challenge Meetings in Zagreb.
Collins and Rogers both got off to fast starts and were competing with the bullet start by eventual winner Michael Rogers but faded late to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
Collins finished fourth in a time of 10.11 seconds while Jason finished in 10.25 seconds.
Michael Rogers won the race in a time of 9.97 seconds and was closely followed by Kemar Bailey-Cole who clocked 9.99 seconds. Justin Gatlin was third clocking 10.01 seconds.
Speaking after the race, Collins stated that he felt pain in his groin and was tentative throughout the race.
“For the race I felt a little pain in my groin so I was trying to be careful and not make it worst. But after the race you don’t feel anything...sometimes the mind do play tricks on you.”
Collins added that he hopes to do a personal best (PB) before the end of the year.
“I am hoping that I can come back and PB again before this year is over.”
He also made comments about becoming a world champion in Paris 10 years ago and running a personal best in 2013
“It still means a lot looking back at what happened 10 years ago. It is one of my most famous achievements to date. It will always be a memory with me and those who followed me over the years.
“Every time you step on the track you want to win or run fast but if you can get both or one or the other it is always great. Being able to do it after 10 years jus shows that the body is coming together. I am still having a bit of niggles here and there.”
