SKN political parties in Campaign Mode

Senator Nigel Carty - SKNLP’s Deputy Chairman and Minister of Information and Education

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER what seemed to be a deafening silence on the political platform during the summer holiday, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) as of two weeks ago recommenced its politicking and will be joined from today (Sept. 5) by the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP).

No word has yet been heard from the recently-formed People’s Labour Party joining the bandwagon, but, according to Nevis’ Deputy Premier Hon. Mark Brantley, both the ruling Concerned Citizen’s Movement and the Nevis Reformation Party are in campaign mode.

As for the SKNLP, Deputy Chairman of the SKNLP and Minister of Information and Education, Senator Nigel Carty has announced that the ruling party would be on the campaign as of tonight in St. Peter’s.

Speaking Tuesday (Sept. 3) on Freedom FM’s Issues, Senator Carty declared that the first meeting after the lull would take place in St. Peter’s.

“On Thursday we are going to St. Peter’s, the hometown of Dr. Terrance Drew. And I think he is preparing himself to deliver a solid message to the people of St. Peter’s, the people of Number Eight and the people of the country.

“If you’ve heard Dr. Drew, certainly on Freedom FM and other places, you would know that this is a young man bursting with talent who has a perspective to share, a perspective that always interests other people…and so the people can look forward to that coming.”

He said a follow-up meeting would be held in Molineux on Sunday (Sept. 8).

“On Sunday we will b going over to Molineux with our public meeting. Dr. Vance Gilbert will be speaking to the people of our country from his heart. This is a man with whom I am so impressed! This is a man and all of them who coming forward have real leadership potential, and that is why they have been selected from the respective constituencies to come forward.”

Carty however informed that prior to Sunday’s political meeting, the SKNLP would be hosting a rally on Central Street.

“This coming Friday we are going to be having a massive rally on Central Street in Basseterre. The end result is to give those candidates a chance to say the things they really have to say in that forum and to again begin to generate the kind of support that we have seen in the past.”
