BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-THE significant contributions of St. Kitts’ taxi drivers to the island’s tourism product will be given its due praise at a ‘Taxi Driver Appreciation Day’ event to be held this Monday (Dec. 22) at the Reggae Beach Bar.

SKNVibes spoke to the owner of the Reggae Beach Bar, Mark Fleming, who said that showing his appreciation for St. Kitts’ taxi drivers is something he is pleased to do.

“Last year was the first time we had this event and it was a major success, so we wanted to hold the appreciation day again this year and let the taxi men know that we are thankful for them bringing tourists out to Cockleshell Beach.”

Fleming said he felt that without the taxi drivers bringing tourists to the beach on the outer reaches of the Southeast Peninsula his business would not be nearly as successful as it is today. Because of this, he said he would be offering a number of incentives at the Appreciation Day.  ~~Adz:Right~~

“There will be lunch and drinks for the drivers, free of cost of course. We’ll also be having a number of prizes and giveaways, as well as music. It is just going to be a really good time generally.”

The Taxi Driver Appreciation Day will be held from 12-6 p.m. and Fleming said he encourages all taxi drivers to make an effort to visit the Reggae Beach Bar that day.

Additionally, he said that the establishment will continue to offer its “everyday very special food prices” for St. Kitts’ taxi drivers year round after the Appreciation Day is over.
