Newtown youth shot near Baker’s Corner

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST days after the shooting of Patrick ‘South’ Weekes at his Pitcairn Street residence, another young man from Newtown was shot last night (Sept. 11) and reportedly underwent emergency surgery at the JNF General Hospital.

Reports reaching SKNVibes state that the young man, whose name was only given as Javid of Neverson Street West, was shot twice in the back while he was within an alley between King Street and Lozack Road; just a short distance from the Basseterre Police Station.

The incident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. and, according to reports, he was not the intended target but he tried to run away from the scene after he had observed a masked, gun-toting individual approaching the area.

Reportedly, four shots were fired and he was struck in the back.

More on this incident as information becomes available.

The shooting of Javid follows that of Weekes, who was reportedly shot in the mouth last Wednesday (Sept. 4) while sitting on his verandah at about 10:45 p.m.

So far, no one was reportedly arrested but investigations are ongoing.
