BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN an effort to bring some of the Independence celebrations to the Western wing of the island of St. Kitts, the Sandy Point Agricultural Cooperative Society (SPACS) would be hosting its Third Annual Agri-Independence Cultural Expo.
The Expo would be held on Saturday (Sept. 14) at the Sandy Point Market at 7:00 p.m. and, according to SPACS member Lionel 'Trust Me' Stevens, the event would be fulfilling with entertainment to suit everyone.
The show will be featuring folklore, poetry as well as drama presentations from the Sandy Point Primary School, among other acts.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Herbman, Elkaya, Jah Motion, Sankofah, DC, Dj Slaughter and DJ Six-a-Clack with live performances by the Limitless Band.
Stevens promised that there would be lots to eat and drink and that the event would have "the best Ital in the Federation".
A Special 30/30 Giveaway would be one of the highlights of the show.
Stevens explained that the ‘30' is in recognition of the Federation's 30th year of Independence.
He also explained that each person would receive a number at the gate of the venue. This, he said, would give them entrance into a draw for a chance to win one of 30 prizes.
Stevens said that during different segments of the show, 30 persons would be called to the stage to dip their hand in a bag and win a prize.
Admission for adults is $10 and children just $5, while those who are under the age of 12 and entering the gate with an adult would be allowed to pass free of charge.
Stevens explained that the event is the Cooperative's way of bringing a piece of the Independence action to Sandy Point and the neighbouring communities.
He said that SPACS is also using the event to give back to the community, noting that there would be lots of prizes to be won.
The proceeds from the show, he explained, would be used for the renovation of the bathrooms at the Sandy Point Market.
Stevens is encouraging one and all to go out and support the SPACS and have Independence fun the 'country people way'.
