BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Setember 11th 2013 - Ministry of Education officials are pleased following what was a very unique and inspiring event held at the Zion Moravian Church on Sunday September 8th in observance of Education Week 2013.
Ministry officials visited the church expecting to celebrate and give thanks for successes over the past year and were pleasantly surprised by what was in store. The call to worship was initiated with the familiar ringing of a school bell, while the announcer greeted the congregation with the familiar greeting, “Good Morning Class” followed by a request for a more upbeat response from the audience which he teasingly referred to as students.
An outstanding feature of the event was that the praise and worship team, ministers and other persons involved in the service were all attired in school wear. Other members of the congregation were dressed likewise.
Minister of Education and Information Hon. Nigel Carty brought brief greetings at the event. Delivering the ministry of the word was Permanent Secretary Mrs. Ionie Liburd Willette.
An inspirational message was brought by Reverend Hilton Joseph who challenged persons to stand firm in adversity and to be confident in who they are.
One day prior, on the opening day of Education week, ministry officials participated in a Fitness Walk and Social from Independence Square to Frigate Bay.
Minister of Education Hon. Nigel Carty explained, “If we are going to achieve the heights to which we aspire we would have to take more opportunities to build camaraderie as we go forward together in Education.”
