SUDEAKKA JERNENE Francis, on Saturday (Dec. 13), graduated Summa cum Laude and the Most Outstanding Graduating Marketing Student at the Plattsburgh State University.
She entered the doors of Plattsburgh State University in August of 2005 to major in Marketing and Business. In her second semester, Sudeakka was chosen by the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society as the most outstanding sophomore. She also won the Phi Kappa Phi Essay competition in that same year. In a manifestation of the love for the land of her birth, Sudeakka represented St. Kitts in the Plattsburgh State University Caribbean Pageant. At the end of the night, Sudeakka won every segment except Miss Amity making her the 2006 Miss Plattsburgh State University Caribbean Queen.
As Sudeakka established herself on campus, she was selected as a student ambassador and a peer advisor for the School of Business and Economics. With a longstanding love for debating, Sudeakka joined the Plattsburgh State Forensics Team. In the spring semester of this year, Sudeakka moderated a Democracy Forum organized by the Honors Student Association.
Throughout her years at Plattsburgh State, Sudeakka was a member of the Honors Student Association and undertook honors classes. Sudeakka was also a member of the prestigious, Students in Free Enterprise.
She is an honorary member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Mu Alpha, and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. Sudeakka is also a member of the Interreligious Organization for World Peace. Sudeakka’s exemplary performance awarded her the opportunity to be a Teacher’s Assistant and win several awards including the Redcay Honors Academic Excellence Award and the Roy and Beatrice Academic Excellence Award. Sudeakka has been on the Dean’s list since 2005. ~~Adz:Right~~
Outside the academic world, Sudeakka became an avid member of Dance Corp. For two years, she was the dance choreographer for the Miss. Plattsburgh State University Caribbean Queen Pageant. Sudeakka was not at all shy to explore her hidden talent of singing. On December 7th, Sudeakka and eighty plus students sang for a large crowd at the Plattsburgh State University Gospel Choir Concert.
Sudeakka has also been awarded with the Liamuiga Youth Legacy Award in 2007 from St. Kitts. She is also a member of the Vivace Dance Company.
Amassing a GPA of over 3.9, Sudeakka was selected by the School of Business and Economics at Plattsburgh State University to be the Most Outstanding Graduating Marketing Student. With an A average, Sudeakka graduated with the highest honors, Summa Cum Laude.
Sudeakka’s future plans include graduate school and pursuing her PhD in Marketing Research.
Attending Sudeakka’s graduation was her mother, Miss MaryAnn Francis, godmother, Miss Shirley Pemberton and special friend Mr. Jermane Samuel.
Sudeakka would like to thank her mother for her endless support, inspiration and dedication and love along the way. She will also like to thank her family friends and college roommate, Miss Goldha Franks for their continuous support and prayers.
