BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Irish Town Primary School this morning (Sept. 18) received a hearty donation from the Caines Family Foundation.
Following the school's annual Patriotic Programme, a very brief handing over ceremony was held on the Irish Town Primary grounds.
Donated to the school was a digital projector along with a DELL Laptop by Dr. Ismay Tayor, Dr. Stanley E. Caines, Vera Caines and Richards Caines Sr., all representing the Caines Family Foundation.
Before handing over the equipment, Taylor told the students and teachers in attendance that as a lover of education and a former teacher, she has always been keen on giving to schools.
She urged both teachers and students to make good use of the projector and laptop, as they are tools essential to their learning.
Speaking exclusively with SKNVibes following the handing over was Dr. Stanley Caines, who explained that the Foundation was established in 2007 and it focuses on giving back in the areas of education, business and health.
He said that the Foundation is prided on the saying 'when God blesses you, you should turn around and bless someone else', which he said they try to do with the donating of much need materials in the education, health and business sectors.
Principal of the school Jean Nisbett-Boddie, in thanking the Caines family, said they are very grateful for the generous and timely donation made.
She explained that at the time when the family contacted the school, it was in immense need of a digital projector, which she told them when asked what could be done to assist.
The Principal also explained that the teachers would now be able to use the projector and laptop to have interactive sessions with the students and "diverse their teaching with technology".
"The school is very grateful for this charitable gift and it ties in with Independence," Nisbett-Boddie emphasised.
She stated that the school would surely call upon the Caines family in the future for further assistance.
