CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - THE Charlestown Branch of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force was yesterday (December 23) the recipient of executive chairs from the St. Kitts and Nevis Trading and Development Company (TDC).

Keisha Jones, an employee of TDC, made the donation to the force on behalf of the company.

“TDC Nevis is once again pleased to make a significant contribution to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. It is indeed a pleasure for me today to hand over this executive chair for your police officers while they sit and serve the public during this season,” Jones said.

She added that while it is the season for giving and TDC is pleased to make the donation, its relationship with the police force is an ongoing one.

“We have always been in partnership with the police force. Two years ago we donated a RAV4 and also we joined with another corporate citizen in donating two other vehicles and also the K-9 Unit,” Jones said.

In speaking about the previous seating arrangements at the police station, Jones explained that TDC saw the need for improvement.

“We were not satisfied so we thought that it would be in our best interest to provide a more comfortable sitting for them [the police], and it is also the season of giving and we thought that it would be a good idea to ensure that our officers are comfortable while they are serving the public during this busy season,” Jones said.

Meantime, local entrepreneur Rodney Elliott also made presentations to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force on behalf of other businesses on the island.

The presentations were in the form of an executive chair, which was donated by Billy Claxton, and two stools she received from Beyond Homes.

Elliott also appealed to the police officers to administer care to the chair and stools.

Inspector Trevor Mills accepted the donations on behalf of the force and advised that they would be used in the guardroom of the Charlestown Police Station.
