NEW YORK, New York, September 25th 2013 (CUOPM) – Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will join nationals in New York and Toronto at events this weekend to mark the 30th Anniversary of Independnce.
The St. Kitts and Nevis leader, in New York to attend the 68th United Nations General Assembly, will travel to Toronto, Canada, where he will be the Guest of Honour at an Independence Gala on Friday night.
The event, being held under the theme: "Stability, Creativity & Prosperity, Celebrating Independence 30" is being held under the distinguished patronage of the Honorary Consul General of St. Kitts and Nevis in Toronto, Mr. John L. Allen at the Spirale Banquet Hall in Toronto.
Also collaborating are the St. Kitts-Nevis Cultural Associations of Montreal, British Columbia, Nevcan and St. Kitts-Nevis Circle of Care.
“This occasion marks a significant time for St. Kitts and Nevis as we reflect on the challenges and celebrate the achievements of our sovereign and progressive nation,” said Allen.
He disclosed that a four-course menu will be served, as music by the talented Bruce Skerritt and the Liamigua Project creates a comfortable and warm dinner atmosphere.
Special awardees will be honoured, said Allen, who also disclosed that Sugar Bowl will “spin the latest and greatest hits from SKN and beyond.”
Prime Minister Douglas returns to New York on Saturday to attend two national events on Sunday.
The first is a Commemorative Church Service at the Beulah Wesleyan Methodist Church in the morning and another Commemorative Church Service at the Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church in the afternoon.
Prime Minister Douglas will speak at the events.
