BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 26th 2013 - The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society in collaboration with other members of the Charles Fort stakeholder group will be staging the initial cleanupnof Charles Fort (Hansen Home), Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point on Saturday 28th September 2013 at 6:00 am.
Charles Fort is one of the earliest and most important masonry structures constructed in the Eastern Caribbean. However since its abandonment as a leper asylum in the 1980’s, the site has become completely overgrown with vegetation and unfortunately used as a dumping ground as well. This clean up is the first of several planned as part of a wider long-term restoration effort at Charles Fort.
Refreshment and water will be provided for all participants.
Be part of history by contributing to preservation and restoration efforts of one of the most historic sites in the Western Hemisphere.
