BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ST. KITTS-NEVIS’ representative at the Miss World Pageant, Trevicia ‘Barbie’ Adams has gotten lots of media attention while in Indonesia for the 63rd annual event and has given much ambassadorial fame to  her twin-island Federation.

Although she did not make the top 10, Adams, in speaking with SKNVibes, expressed content with herself having done her best throughout the competitions leading up to the Pageant’s finale slated for tomorrow (Sept. 28) in South Bali at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center.

From a field of 127, the names of the top 10 contestants were announced on Tuesday (Sept. 24).

The top 10 finalist are: Miss Ukraine Anna Zaiachkivska, Miss South Sudan Modong Manuela Mogga, Miss Brazil Sancler Frantz, Miss Phillipines Megan Young, Miss France Marine Lorphelin, Miss Cameroon Denise Valerie Ayena, Miss Cyprus Kristy Marie Agapioy, Miss England Kirsty Heslewood, Miss Italy Sarah Baderna and Miss United States Olivia Jordan.

All 127 contestants have been busy preparing for the grand finale production.

Adams was asked how the rehearsals have been going for her, to which she admitted that she had never before been engaged in such which clocked some 10 hours of work input.

“Rehearsals have been going pretty okay. I must admit that I have never experience any rehearsals like this. So it is an eye opener for me as we have some 10 hours of rehearsals. So I am glad that I am afforded the opportunity to see the real world of production but, most important, I am putting in the hard work to make sure my few seconds of promotion not just for myself but also for my country is on point.”

Commenting on what she would like people to know about her efforts leading up to the Pageant, Adams said: “I’ve been doing my best in the few competitions I entered while I am here. Coming from a small nation like St. Kitts-Nevis, I can say that I did my little part in promoting my twin- island paradise, as many people did not even know about my country. My greatest highlight while being here would have to be the many television interviews that I am being chosen for, which then led me to be in many local news papers which is a milestone in my eyes due to the fact that the media attention is always geared to the larger countries.”

In May, Adams placed Fourth Runner-up in the Miss Caribbean World Pageant held in Tortola, BVI. She was crowned Miss Caribbean Culture Queen 2012 in the Culturama Festival in Nevis and in 2011 placed First Runner-up in the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Queen Pageant.

The reigning Miss World is Wenxia Yu of China.
