    CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (July 6, 2005) -- An official of the Nevis Electricity Company Limited has issued a call to local engineers to take advantage of the first ever regional electricity conference to be held in St. Kitts and Nevis. The conference is slated for July 25-27, 2005 at the Marriott Royal Beach Resort in St. Kitts. The theme will be Leveraging Technologies to Create Value.
    Mrs. Roma Hanley-Merchant contact person for the conference told the Government Press and Public Relations Department on Wednesday that the regional conference will benefit local electrical engineers through the knowledge they will gain in the use of technology and the way forward. She said it will also provide an opportunity for them to network with their Caribbean counterparts.
    The 2005 Engineers Conference will be presented by the Caribbean Electricity Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), an association of electric utilities, will be co sponsored by the Nevis Electricity Company and the St. Kitts Electricity Department. The last conference was held in Puerto Rico 2004.
    Registration for the 2005 conference is ongoing but according to Mrs. Roma Hanley-Merchant up till July 22, 2005 the registration fee will be EC $425. per person. After that specific period the fee will be $475.  If there are companies registering three or more persons a 15 percent discount will be given, providing that the registrations are received at the same time.
