BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A popular St. Kitts national and professional natural hairstylist as well as master ‘loc-tician’, Petra Mathew, is currently in the Federation marketing three different sizes of Paradise Bliss Hair and Body Repair Oil.
Mathew, who originally hails from Cayon, has over 15 years experience in hair-styling and hair-care, is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Nat’ral Xpression Hair Health and Beauty Palace in St. Croix, USVI.
She is also the owner and an educator at Nat’ral Xpression Braids and Locs Academy in the USVI.
SKNVibes recently had a sit-down interview with the long-locs beauty who, upon highlighting the ingredients of the oil, shared how “some of the best oils on earth” go into making the product which is best loved by many people for its sweet-smelling aroma.
Some of the oils found in this Paradise Bliss product, which comes in four and six-ounce bottles, are Coconut Oil, Soybean Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Olive Oil.
Mathew, during the interview, provided this media house with a sample of the product to attest to its lovely fragrance and spoke about it uses and benefits.
“It goes on any hair type but, of course, I encourage everybody to go natural because it’s embracing your identity. But it goes on every hair type and skin. It moisturises repairs and adds sheen to the hair, just to name a few. It definitely combats dryness, so you don’t have to worry about ashy arms and feet.”
Questioned on the reviews she received on the oil, Matthew enthusiastically said: “Oh…everybody says it’s excellent! I realise a lot of people like the scent. Yes, they like the properties and what it’s good for, but the scent…ohh, they love it!”
When asked if the product was officially launched, Matthew responded in the negative.
“No, I wouldn’t say officially…I’ve been advertising it. I have flyers all over and I take it everywhere. If I should say a launch, I was in Atlanta, US in April at the Talia Waajid World Natural Hair Show and I had a booth there and I had great reviews there …”
Mathew said she had changed the packages of the Paradise Bliss Oil and is now content with a brown sprtiz bottle design.
“This is actually like my second or third bottle and label. I’ve changed it. The bottle was clear. The labelling was different. There was a picture of me on there. I took that off and I changed it up. I was like, I wanted something more professional if I was going to compete with the bigger guys, so that when it goes into somebody’s store it looked the part.”
She continued about the bottle’s design saying, “I switched it up. I like what it looks like now. I had a different tip. It used to be a squirt tip, then I had a dist top and I found that the spray is more efficient, especially since it has dual use…for your hair and your skin. So the spray works excellent, especially if you’re in a hurry.”
SKNVibes questioned if she uses her Paradise Bliss Oil.
“Of course! As a matter of fact, in my salon I use nothing else. Of course I sell other people’s product but if that company sells oil, I would order everything else except the oil because I have my own. I use it on my hair when I just get out of the shower. I use it all the time…everywhere, and it is excellent for massages.”
Mathew informed that the oil is usually a part of her package for newlyweds.
“I usually tell my clients if your significant other is upset at you, once you spray that on…all the anger is gone”, she added.
Today (Oct. 4), Mathew will be at Shades of You Beauty Salon in Ottley’s Village from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., where the Paradise Bliss Oil will be on sale and also other hair-care products. Interested persons can reach Mathew at 661-3921 for more information.
