Graduating Class 2005 singing "I Gotta Believe"
    Charlestown Nevis (July 7, 2005)
Principal of the Gingerland Primary School, Mrs. Marion Lescott, while delivering the school report for the academic year 2004/2005 during the 18th Annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony, challenged the students to walk boldly through the door of education.
Under the theme, Envision today, what you want for tomorrow; your future is in your hands, Principal Lescott advised the students to catch the vision of what they would like to be upon leaving school.  She said, Work persistently towards achieving your vision.  If you can dream it, you can achieve it.  Have faith and believe in yourself.  Listen to the positive voices and follow the right path in order to achieve your dream.

While reporting on the challenges and achievements during the year under review, Lescott expressed gratitude on behalf of the school for the invaluable support it had received from the Education Department, parents, businesses and the general public.  She also expressed gratitude to her staff for the unwavering support and the commendable job they have done throughout the year.  She challenged them to recommit themselves to make a difference in the life of each student.

The ceremony, which was held at the St. Georges Anglican Church on Wednesday July 6th, saw 48 students graduate into the secondary level.  Mr. Charles Bussue Jr. emerged as Valedictorian and captured several prizes that included the prize for best performance in Test of Standards, the most outstanding boy and the Vance Amory Scholarship Award.

In delivering his valedictory speech Charles said, Oh how time flies.  In seven short years we learnt so much, and in that time most of us were well behaved and became very interested in our schoolwork.  We were learning the importance of time.  We achieved so much in so little time, thanks to the teachers from Kindergarten to Grade Six.

Principal Education Officer, Mrs. Jennifer Hodge presented the feature address where she noted that graduation is a time for reflection.  She admonished the students to set goals, follow their dreams and reach for the stars.

Take your education seriously for in this technologically driven world education will be your master key to success. It is a tough road to the top of Mount Education, she pointed out as she left the students with four key advices to a successful climb to Mount Education.

Do not limit yourself in goal setting, dare to be bold; take responsibility for your education; limit your associations with undesirable friends and always do your homework, Hodge commented as she ended with a story about an eagle who dreamt that he was an eagle but died as a chicken.  He (the eagle) grew up on a farm where his dream was suppressed by a chicken.
