Reach For Recovery Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign - Photo Contest 2013

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 8th 2013 - October is internationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Reach for Recovery SKB is once again making strides towards making a greater impact in St. Kitts and Nevis with an extensive awareness campaign.

     

    In October 2012 Reach for Recovery launched a “Pretty in Pink” Facebook photo competition mainly to spread awareness among our young women and to engage users with pertinent information about breast cancer via this very popular social network.

     

    MarkysaO’Loughlin, Reach for Recovery Member says:“This year we decided to expand the reach of our audience byopening the contest to males as well, to reinforce that breast cancer does not discriminate with gender.”

     

    The contest will suitably be renamed: “Posh in Pink”.  The contest allows for everyone, categorized in four (4) age groups- 6-12, 13-18, 19+ and “Real-Men-Wear-Pink” to dress up or accessorize in pink and have their friends vote for their picture by liking the Reach for Recovery Facebook page and their photo. The competition began October 1st, 2013 and runs through October 31st, 2013.

     

    Interested personscan show their commitment and support forbreast cancer awareness by:

     

    1. Dressing up in pink accessories OR pink outfits 
    2. Submitting photos via email to reachskb@live.com or via facebook as private message
    3. Get friends and family to like Reach For Recovery SKB’s facebook page and also like their photo

    A number of attractive prizes are being awarded for the winner of each category as well as for 2nd and 3rd place and for the most creative photo.

     

    Reach for Recovery extends a special thank you to the sponsors that came on board already this year for the contest are LIME, TDC, Juliet’s hair salon, Nu nailz soul 2 soul,Dufry Duty Free, C & C (Avon), Radio SKN, Ashburry’s, Scoops, Beauty Essentials, IREPKSKN, Iconic and Edicius Artworks.  The organization is welcoming other sponsors who would like to donate a gift prize to the awareness campaign to emailreachskb@live.com or call 869-762-0140.

     

    Other awareness activities planned for the month of October are “Pink Zone” at New Life Pharmacy on Cayon Street, “Learn at Lunch” and a youth forum.
