Lone gunman creates havoc in College Street Party

Solid Gold on College Street in Basseterre
By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PANDAMONIUM broke out early Sunday morning (Oct. 6) in Solid Gold at College Street during a party when a man allegedly entered the building brandishing a firearm.

One eyewitness told SKNVibes that the gunman’s face was not clearly seen because the lights were dimmed at the time, so it could not have been ascertained if he were masked.

The eyewitness claimed that the incident took place sometime after 4:00 a.m. and the speed in which he left the building would have made Usain Bolt look like a snail.

“I saw when the man entered the building and he was carrying a long gun. I panicked and so did many others. I saw men and women running towards the doorway and I surpassed all of them like a bullet out of a gun. Even if Usain Bolt were running amongst us, he, too, compared with the speed at which I ran, would have been classified a snail.”

It was mentioned that there were lots of patrons in the dark corners and mainly females were in the centre of the dance floor.

“To me it looked like a rifle or shotgun. It was too large to be a pistol,” the individual said.

The individual claimed that the gunman might have been looking for someone.

“He came in running through the left entrance of the building and people started running out. He looked as if he were looking for someone, because he came in and started looking round and went straight back out.”

The eyewitness also said that the Nu Vybes Band International (De Sugar Band), which was performing at the time, had momentarily stopped.

Asked if there were security presence at the venue, the eyewitness said “I believe so”, and it was pointed out that there was a gatekeeper collecting money from patrons to the event.

Today (Oct. 9), a call was placed to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, in an effort to find out if the matter was reported but he promised to look into it as he did not have any information.
