BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SPEAKING at a public meeting last night (Oct. 9) in George Street, Newtown, Leader of the Unity Party, Dr.Timothy Harris told a fired up audience that  “enough is enough” and “it is time to make noise” at tomorrow’s march through the streets of Basseterre in sending a strong message to the government.

“I want to see all your faces on Friday when we start on that massive march through the streets of Basseterre. We are sending them a message that we are taking our St. Kitts and Nevis back.”

Dr. Harris continued: “We are saying to them enough is enough and when dey see de power of Unity, tonight we can say to dem on de other side...’not a damn seat for dem’.”

He indirectly declared that the formation of the Unity Party is history in the making while lashing out against the Motion of No Confidence is not being tabled.

“This is history in the making. We have come together, committed as we are to a better St. Kitts and Nevis. And we say, St. Kitts and Nevis deserves better than the government that we have. We will not accept that St. Kitts and Nevis must be the worst in the Caribbean; that is what they have brought us to. Nowhere else in the Caribbean, in the Commonwealth could any government hold a Motion of No Confidence for 10 months.”

According to Harris, democracy is under threat in the Federation.

“Enough is enough! Democracy is under threat and I invite all of you come let us march on Friday and send a signal to de world.”

Dr. Harris went on to say: “De friends of de man on his way out have been saying St. Kitts and Nevis too quiet...St. Kitts and Nevis too quiet. Well, it is time for us to make noise, and on Friday we will start making noise through the streets of Basseterre.”

As gathered, the march and procession is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m., starting from the tamarind tree at the junction of Orchard and Cayon Streets in Greenlands.

The procession is expected to proceed along the following route: east along Cayon Street, right (south) along Central Market Street, left (east) along Liverpool Row then left (north) along Fort Street, right (east) along Cayon Street, then right (south) along West Independence Square Street and right (west) along Bank Street, where the march will end.

Following the march, a rally will be held at Bank Street from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Reportedly, the routes have been approved by the Commissioner of Police, Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn.
