CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A mother has found herself on the wrong side of the law and was charged with accessory after the fact for attempted murder and accessory after the fact for burglary.
Information reaching this publication states that Itasha Dellisser, a Jamaican national who resides at Shaw’s Avenue, New Castle in Nevis, had allegedly attempted to facilitate her son’s departure to Jamaica in order to evade arrest for a crime he allegedly committed.
Dellisser’s son, Shane Dwayne Oliver Shorter of the same address, had allegedly wounded Samar Haroon, a student of the Medical University of the Americas, at her Ocean View home in New Castle on Tuesday (Oct.1).
According to a police release, Shorter was apprehended by detectives of the Violent Crime Unit at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts when he attempted to flee the Federation.
The release states that Dellisser is alleged to have been informed of what transpired between her son and the medical student and allegedly facilitated his attempt to evade detection.
He was however charged with attempted murder and burglary, and on Tuesday (Oct. 8) appeared at the District ‘C’ Magistrate’ Court before Her Worship Yasmine Clarke who had remanded him to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Investigation into this matter is ongoing and the police are requesting that “persons with information regarding this case are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 800-8477. Remember, you don't have to give your name and you may be eligible for a reward”.
