    Minister of State for Sports Hon. Richard Skerritt congratulated sprinter Tiandra Ponteen for her outstanding achievement at the 20th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games

     

    Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 11, 2005):
    Minister of State for Sports Hon. Richard Skerritt congratulated sprinter Tiandra Ponteen for her outstanding achievement at the 20th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.
    Ponteen clocked a time of 51.41 seconds in the Womens 400meter finals earning the silver medal.
     
    We are very pleased with Tiandras performance at the CAC Games, Minister Skerritt said, on behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis. Tiandra has consistently performed well on the professional and collegiate circuits and we are excited with her continued growth.
     
    The minister of state noted that the female Kittitian sprinter is an athlete with tremendous talent and a positive attitude. I hope that her achievements, on and off the field, will serve to inspire her team members and other young people interested in pursuing a career in track and field, he stated.
     
    Commendation was further expressed to the St. Kitts Amateur Athletic Association and other members of the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation.
