Kittitian shot in Nevis

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – LESS than 24 hours after a young man was injured following a shooting incident on St. Kitts, a similar one took place last evening (Oct. 14) on sister isle Nevis.

According to information received by this publication, sometime before 6:00 p.m., Roy Wilkinson of St. Kitts was shot whilst riding his motorcycle in the Cades Bay area.

This information was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force who indicated that Wilkinson was admitted to the Alexandra Hospital and treated for his injury.

The PRO did not state how many times Wilkinson was shot or to which part of his body he sustained injuries. He however said that police are making investigations into the incident and a press release would soon be issued.

As additional information becomes available, a subsequent article would be published.

At about 10:50 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 13), Chezyown Herbert of Cabbage Tree, Upper Cayon was shot at by two masked men, which resulted in a bullet grazing one of his thighs.

According to one of Herbert’s relatives, he had left his home on Sunday afternoon to witness a football match at St. Mary’s Park and, after the game ended, he and three other young men had decided to play a few games of eight-ball pool.

“When they finished playing, the four of them were walking along the Island’s Main Road on their way home when two armed, masked men approached them and started shooting when they were in the vicinity of the roundabout.

“The four of them ran in different directions but the gunmen gave chase behind Chezyown. While chasing him, the gunmen continued firing shots and one of them grazed him on his thigh. He however managed to outrun them and hid himself in the compound of the Community Centre,” the relative said.

“After realising that the two gunmen had fled the scene, he returned home, which is just a short distance from the Community Centre,” the relative added.
