    Myron Walwyn Appointed BVI Tourist Board Chairman

     


    ~~Adz:Right~~Roadtown, Tortola; Thursday, January 8 – Mr. Myron Walwyn has been appointed as the new Chairman of the BVI Tourist Board effective January 7th.

     

    The announcement was made by Premier and Minister for Tourism Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE following Cabinet’s approval yesterday of Mr. Walwyn’s appointment.

     

    Mr. Walwyn is the Managing Director of the MVW International, which is the local parent company for The Moorings/Marina Inn Restaurant, Nexus Café, Bar and Grille and Charlie’s Restaurant. He has 15 years experience in the hotel and restaurant industry, having previously worked as Assistant Manager/Food and Beverage Director at the Treasure Isle Hotel.

     

    Mr. Walwyn is also a licensed attorney, graduating from the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Laws Degree with honours. He also served as Crown Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2007 to 2008.

     

    He replaces the previous Acting Chairman, Mr. Terry Ford, who was relieved of his duties on August 28 last year.  

     

    With tourism as one of the main economic pillars of the BVI economy, the BVI Tourist Board is mandated to ensure that the industry maintains its leadership position as a diverse upscale niche market destination.
