BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts Marriott has expanded its services to local and international markets following the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the third phase of its Beach Club yesterday (Jan. 7), which added a high-end component to the St. Kitts tourism product.

The Marriott’s St. Kitts Beach Club is the newest branch of the Marriott Vacation Club International and offers 22 high-end villas which offer “plenty of room to stretch out” and give the “home-away-from-home” experience.

The units are fully complimented with kitchen and bathroom facilities and boast the finest master bedrooms and guest bedrooms, with living and dining rooms flaunting outstanding décor. The two and three bedroom units offer the visitor spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, the peaking hills of the South-east Peninsular and the neighbouring island of Nevis.

General Manager of the Vacation Club Pieter Knot told SKNVibes that St. Kitts is a very likable travel and vacation destination which shows a promising future. He said the resort is very confident that the uniqueness of St. Kitts’ tourism product should confirm the projected 94% occupancy rate for 2009.

“Our owners have already prepaid their vacations and we are very pleased to announce that. This recognizes two significant milestones. First, 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the Marriott Vacation Club which we are very proud of, and appropriately, the continued development of this resort on St. Kitts. [This new addition] reveals an additional 22 two- and three-bedroom villas now offering 66 villas out of a total proposed 88 villas.

“The economic impact on this beautiful island is significant. We are very pleased to have such fine associates working hard every day to provide unforgettable vacation experiences and the performance and popularity of this resort reflects a strong and steady interest in travel to St. Kitts both now and in the future.”

Also present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of State with Responsibility to Tourism Hon. Richard Skerritt and General Manager of St. Kitts Marriott Flor van der Vaart among other government officials and guests.

PM Douglas, joined by Knot and Hon. Richard Skerritt, cut the red ribbon which officially signalled the opening of the luxury villas which aim to give “the vacation experience only imagined somewhere in your dreams”.
